Berlin has created a certification programme based on a rigorous catalogue of criteria co-developed with industry stakeholders. The criteria draw on international frameworks like GRI, ISO, EMAS, and the German Sustainability Code. They cover Environment, Society, Business, and Governance & Risk-Compliance.
Through its online platform, Sustainable Meetings Berlin provides event organisers a centralized directory of certified sustainable service providers (venues, catering, technical services, hotels, logistics), guidance modules, and tips for reducing environmental impact.
The programme also fosters continuous improvement—service partners undergo audits, share best practices, and participate in networking and capacity-building to elevate standards across Berlin’s MICE sector.
