In a landmark collaboration, Marina Bay Sands and SIT launched a pioneering three-month MICE module in January 2025—marking the first such formal partnership between a hospitality leader and a university in Singapore.
The program, designed over 2024, blends seminars, field visits, and hands-on case studies, enriched by Marina Bay Sands’ depth of experience, having hosted over 2,200 events and more than 1.2 million delegates in the prior year. It covers critical themes such as event design, technical operations, crisis management, and sustainability, taught by Marina Bay Sands’ MICE experts from its Banquet, Sales, Convention Services, Sustainability, and Technical Operations teams.
Industry insights were further amplified through contributions from partners including Gevme, the National Arts Council, PCMA, and the Singapore Tourism Board, ensuring a rich and broad-based practical perspective.
A total of 36 students participated alongside 36 industry representatives, culminating in a fireside chat and career panel titled “Building Future Careers in MICE.” The session facilitated networking opportunities and allowed students to present their learnings to seasoned professionals.
Marina Bay Sands highlighted that the module complements its broader commitment to strengthening the industry’s talent pipeline. This includes the US$1 million Sands Hospitality Scholarship supporting over 100 Singaporean students, as well as access to internships and part-time roles.
The success of this course signals a promising model for future industry–academic collaborations, ensuring that aspiring professionals gain real-world readiness and valuable connections in the global events landscape.
