Sydney, NSW — On 14–15 May 2025, senior executives, industry leaders and sector stakeholders convened at Food and Grocery Australia 2025, the annual flagship summit for Australia’s food and grocery sector, held at the Hyatt Regency Sydney. The two-day event was organised by the Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC), the peak industry association representing food, drink and grocery manufacturers in Australia.
Food and Grocery Australia functions as a central forum for leadership dialogue within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) ecosystem, bringing together CEOs and senior executives from manufacturing, retail and supply chain sectors for strategic discussion, peer-to-peer engagement and networking.
Programme activity spanned chief executive dinners, open training sessions on the industry’s voluntary Food & Grocery Code of Conduct, and plenary meetings focused on navigating the evolving landscape of domestic and global food systems. Participants explored challenges facing the sector, including shifts in consumer demand, regulatory developments, supply-chain dynamics, and competitive pressures.
One of the conference’s opening sessions, the State of the Industry, provided a snapshot of trends across Australia’s food and grocery manufacturing domain, highlighting recent performance indicators, employment patterns, trade and investment currents shaping the market.
The summit also incorporated structured networking opportunities designed to deepen executive connections across the industry, underlining its role as a meeting ground for strategic exchange among senior leaders.
Food and Grocery Australia is a recurring event in the AFGC calendar, traditionally held in major Australian cities and serving as a key annual touchpoint for stakeholders to share insights and anticipate future developments. The 2025 edition continued this tradition, reinforcing the value of face-to-face collaboration in addressing sector-wide priorities.
Looking ahead, industry leaders are expected to carry forward discussions from the Sydney summit into broader sector strategies, leveraging insights gained on competitiveness, supply-chain resilience and market transformation as the food and grocery community adapts to ongoing change.
