Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) 2025: Strengthening Vietnam’s Sustainable Business Competitiveness
The Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) 2025, held at the VCCI Conference Center in Hanoi, marked an important step in Vietnam’s push to advance responsible business practices and align with global ESG standards. Organised by VCCI and the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), the event convened government representatives, enterprises, SMEs, and international partners to accelerate sustainable corporate transformation.
Far beyond an evaluation ceremony, CSI 2025 served as a strategic platform that helps businesses integrate sustainability into long-term planning, operations, and competitiveness. Participants examined regulatory changes, global ESG expectations, and practical tools for improving transparency, risk management, and economic resilience.
Corporate Governance and Competitiveness
CSI 2025 highlighted governance as the foundation of sustainable growth. The updated evaluation framework—aligned with international reporting trends—supports companies in improving risk assessment, internal controls, and data quality. Speakers emphasized that strong governance is now essential for accessing global supply chains and meeting new environmental and labour requirements.
Environmental Responsibility
Environmental performance remained a central theme. Companies showcased efforts in energy efficiency, waste reduction, emissions monitoring, and circular economy practices. Discussions reinforced that environmental initiatives increasingly drive operational efficiency and market differentiation, not just regulatory compliance.
Social Impact and Workforce Development
The programme recognized enterprises that excel in labour conditions, safety, skills training, diversity, and community engagement. These initiatives strengthen workforce resilience and support Vietnam’s broader social development goals.
Future Direction
CSI 2025 reaffirmed that sustainability is a long-term strategic advantage for Vietnamese enterprises. Future priorities include deeper alignment with global reporting standards (GRI, IFRS S1/S2), digitalisation of sustainability disclosures, expanded SME support, and stronger public–private collaboration to advance Vietnam’s net-zero and circular economy ambitions.
As Vietnam accelerates global integration and climate commitments, CSI continues to be a cornerstone initiative driving measurable sustainability progress and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses.
