SINGAPORE — The APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) has upgraded its Supply Chain Resilience Toolkit to help small businesses across the Asia-Pacific identify vulnerabilities, manage risks and respond to increasingly complex trade conditions.

Announced on 9 September, the updated toolkit allows businesses to assess their resilience across five areas: flexibility, visibility, connectivity, robustness and redundancy. Businesses receive a resilience score together with practical recommendations, including measures such as supplier diversification and stronger trade compliance.

The toolkit has already been used by more than 2,850 businesses across the region since it was first developed following widespread supply chain disruptions in the early 2020s. The latest update also introduces an artificial intelligence-enabled tariff tool to help smaller firms understand increasingly complex trade requirements.

Led by ABAC China and ABAC United States, the update draws on contributions from businesses and organisations including UPS, Johnson & Johnson, Access Partnership, the National Center for APEC and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

The toolkit has also been expanded to seven languages, including English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Thai. It is available globally at no cost through the National Center for APEC.

The initiative highlights the role of regional business organisations in providing practical tools to help smaller businesses strengthen supply chain resilience and participate more confidently in cross-border trade.
