Bangkok has been selected as the host city for the inaugural IBTM Asia Pacific, marking the first Asian edition of the established IBTM World portfolio of MICE trade shows.
The event will take place from 9 to 10 June 2027 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), positioning Thailand as a key platform for business events in the Asia Pacific region.
The launch reflects a broader shift in the global meetings landscape, with Asia Pacific continuing to grow in strategic importance for international associations, corporates, and event organisers. IBTM Asia Pacific is expected to bring together global buyers and suppliers through a structured appointment model supported by smart matchmaking, enabling more targeted and efficient business exchanges.
Bangkok’s selection was supported by several factors, including its established event infrastructure, international connectivity, range of accommodation options, and supportive government policies. Visa facilitation measures, including e-visa and visa-free access for key markets, were also highlighted as contributing to ease of access for international delegates.
Dr Supawan Teerarat, President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), described the event as a significant milestone for the country’s positioning in the global MICE industry. She noted that hosting IBTM Asia Pacific reflects both Thailand’s capabilities and Asia’s growing role as a centre for international business events.
Claudia Hall, Exhibition Director for IBTM World and IBTM Asia Pacific, highlighted the region’s strong growth potential and the intention to develop the event into a leading platform for the industry. The event will combine scheduled business appointments with a conference programme designed to deliver practical outcomes for both exhibitors and buyers.
The addition of IBTM Asia Pacific to the regional calendar is expected to strengthen Asia’s visibility within the global MICE ecosystem, while creating new opportunities for cross-border collaboration and market access.
