The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has entered into a partnership with Beijing Capital Group Exhibitions & Events to jointly develop a new professional certification programme for China’s business events sector. Announced on December 4, 2025, the agreement will see the launch of the Certified International Business Events Professional (CIBEP) programme.

The CIBEP programme is structured as a three-level certification designed to support talent development across China’s expanding meetings and events industry. It will combine international standards and industry frameworks from ICCA with localised content, case studies, and delivery tailored to the Chinese market. The programme is intended to address skills development for individuals entering the sector, as well as upskilling opportunities for early- and mid-career professionals.

Under the agreement, Beijing Capital Group Exhibitions & Events will be responsible for developing supplementary China-specific content and overseeing programme design, delivery, and marketing. ICCA will contribute its global expertise, industry benchmarks, and international perspective to ensure alignment with recognised professional standards.

ICCA Chief Executive Officer Senthil Gopinath described the partnership as a milestone in expanding ICCA’s education initiatives in Asia and strengthening professional standards within the global business events industry. Jie Liang, General Manager of Beijing North Star Company Limited, said the programme aims to enhance the global competitiveness of China’s business events workforce by integrating international theory with domestic practice.

Participants who complete the programme will be recognised as meeting a professional standard compatible with further international training, supporting longer-term workforce development within China’s business events ecosystem.
