The Singapore Tourism Board has identified the Straits View area near Marina Bay as the location for a new Downtown MICE Hub, signalling the city-state’s most significant investment in business events infrastructure in years.
The integrated development will combine convention facilities with accommodation, dining, retail and entertainment, designed to allow Singapore to host larger events and expand MICE capacity in the city centre. STB plans to launch a formal Request for Proposal in 2027 to appoint a master developer and MICE operator. The announcement builds on record MICE tourism receipts of S$2.3 billion in 2025, a 35% year-on-year increase, and Singapore’s 23rd consecutive year as ICCA’s top Meeting City in Asia Pacific.
STB has set a target of S$4.5 billion in MICE tourism receipts by 2040, underpinned by the hub and a broader pipeline of partnerships and infrastructure investments currently in development.
For associations planning large-scale events in Asia Pacific, the announcement signals that Singapore is investing well ahead of demand. Host city decisions being made today will play out in a destination landscape that looks materially different by the early 2030s.
