MANILA — World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) has announced a 3 billion peso (US$49 million) expansion that will nearly double its indoor exhibition capacity, strengthening the Philippines’ ability to host larger regional and international business events.

Scheduled for completion in 2028, the project will increase the venue’s indoor exhibition space to almost 20,000 square metres while retaining approximately 7,000 square metres of outdoor event space. The redevelopment is designed to accommodate growing demand for large-scale exhibitions, conferences and trade events, while providing greater flexibility for organisers planning future editions.

According to WTCMM, the investment responds to sustained demand from both domestic and international organisers, as well as increasing interest from returning flagship exhibitions and new market entrants. The venue plans to begin accepting advance bookings ahead of the expansion’s completion to support long-term event planning.

Pamela Pascual, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of World Trade Center Metro Manila, described the project as an investment in the future of the Philippine exhibitions industry, reflecting confidence in the country’s growing events market and its ambition to attract more major regional and international gatherings.

Located in Pasay City, WTCMM is the Philippines’ only member of the World Trade Centers Association, a global network spanning more than 300 trade centres and affiliated organisations. The venue has long served as one of the country’s principal exhibition facilities, hosting trade fairs, industry exhibitions, conventions and corporate events across multiple sectors.

The expansion reflects a wider trend across Asia-Pacific, where destinations are increasing investment in convention and exhibition infrastructure to strengthen their competitiveness. As organisers seek larger, more flexible venues capable of supporting increasingly complex events, venue capacity is becoming an important factor in attracting international exhibitions and long-term event pipelines.
