The 10th edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF 2025) is set for September 18-19, 2025, at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Banjul, The Gambia. Co-organised by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and The Gambia’s Ministry of Petroleum, Energy & Mines, the forum carries the theme “Accelerating Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Solutions for Growth in the ECOWAS Region.”
ESEF has become a premier platform in West Africa, gathering over 500 participants annually—including government ministers, private sector leaders, financiers, researchers, and civil society actors.
The objectives of the forum are ambitious and central to the region’s energy and development agenda. First, it aims to help ECOWAS member states meet their sustainable energy goals and international commitments.
Second, it seeks to unlock investment opportunities within renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors across West Africa.
Third, the forum serves to strengthen policy and regulatory frameworks as well as partnerships among stakeholders to encourage clean energy deployment.
Fourth, ESEF will promote concrete clean energy infrastructure solutions such as mini-grids, off-grid solar, green hydrogen, clean cooking technologies, and deployment of renewable-integrated electricity markets.
Finally, it emphasises ensuring that the energy transition is just and inclusive: focusing on gender-inclusive energy access, leveraging innovation at the nexus of energy, water, food, and improving energy-related outcomes for underserved communities.
For associations and event organisers, ESEF 2025 represents more than a policy gathering. It’s a signal that stakeholder networks, investment mobilisation, content leadership, and sustainable practice are priority levers in global and regional event strategy. Aligning with these objectives offers opportunities to deliver meaningful impact, shape regulatory direction, and build long-term relevance.
